China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) was founded in 2014 in Beijing. CPIA is an A-level national, industrial, and non-profit organization. Its members are mainly composed of enterprises, institutions, social organizations, and individuals who are engaged in the research, development, manufacturing, teaching, testing, certification and standardization of PV products, equipment, and related auxiliary materials.

Mission of the CPIA: (1) observe the Constitution, laws, regulations, national policies and social ethics; (2) protect the legitimate rights and interests of its members and the photovoltaic industry as a whole, and advocate self-discipline and uphold fair competition; (3) improve industrial standards and foster a favorable environment for development; (4) facilitate technological exchange and cooperation, and improve indigenous innovation capability; (5) serve as a bridge between the government and the business, and provide services to businesses, industries, and government; (6) promote international exchange and cooperation, and provide coordinated responses to trade disputes.

The CPIA has more than 700 members, including businesses, research institutions, universities, and local PV associations engaged in the manufacturing, R&D, and testing of polysilicon, silicon wafers, cells, modules, special-purpose equipment, components, system integration and power generation. Its members’ products account for 95% of the country’s polysilicon, 98% of silicon wafers, 94% of cells, 97% of modules, 95% of inverters, 80% of photovoltaic equipment, 96% of encapsulant material, and 90% of back sheet and other raw and auxiliary materials and components.
